This is an informal introduction to some of my work,  if you are interested in purchasing please enquire by email.  villagefabricshoppe@gmail.com

Lily of the Valley is the beginning of a series that I have wanted to get going for a while now based on Medieval Herbal Illustrations. The background is somewhere between crazy piecing and string pieced, it is machine embroidered at the seams, and the flower is drawn on muslin, embroidered by hand, then raw edge appliqued by machine onto the already quilted base. It is 18" x 24" finished 2011

This was done for a guild challenge, it is board mounted on 15" x 13" board. The petals and leaves are dimensional. 2010

Levels of Sight. The images are mono prints that look like leaves, Tree bark, and the long view of a forest. It was both hand and machine quilted, and the edge has a facing instead of a binding. This technique works well with the shaped bottom edge. Done in 2010, it is 24" x 33" at the longest point.

Sweet Pea was done for a guild challenge. It had to be 12" x 18" and based on the seed packet that we picked randomly. The flowers are made using wired ribbons and have some actual dimension to them. The tendrils were free motion stitched, and this is one of the first of my art quilts to use a version of string piecing as the background.

A Holiday Quilt. The Center wreath was painted using all purpose inks, and an applique pattern that I would never dare to try to hand applique by Ellie Sienkewitz ( I hope I spelled that right, I don't have her book anymore to check ) The red around the medallion is done with lots of tucks, giving it texture.

This one is called Natural Bling, and tree trunk is textures with lots of tightly spaced tucks. The butterflies are made with wire and buttonhole stitching in a lace making technique, and some of the other bugs are novelty pins I found in a toy store. It is 21" x 26"

A Paula Nadelstern inspired piece. This was hand pieced and machine quilted. It is about 30" square.

Plankton Study One - 15" square, my first trial with using oil pastels after the free motion quilting had been done.
